Obituary

Martin J. Martinosky Sr., of Washington Township (Belle Vernon), went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, in Mon Valley Hospital with his family by his side. A son of the late Frank V. and Mary Ann Wisniewski Martinosky, he was born in Owensdale on Sept. 8, 1930. Martin attended First United Methodist Church in Belle Vernon, was a member of the Scottdale FOE, a member and president of Teamsters Local 872 retirees and a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by Wetterau until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He also enjoyed coaching his children's recreational teams as they were growing up. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elma White Martinosky; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen Swaney, Wendy (Robert) Kennedy, Jill (Eugene) Williams and Holly Martinosky, all of Belle Vernon; one son and daughter-in-law, Martin J. (Melissa) Martinosky, of Greensburg; two sisters, Clara (John) Severi, of Scottdale, and Veronica (Richard) Shaffer, of Owensdale; seven grandchildren, Tim (Elisha) Swaney, Jessica Williams (Michael) Zueger, Mckenna Martinosky, Cody Williams, Bradley Kennedy, Joelle Kennedy and Matthew Martinosky; and a Goddaughter, Deborah (Severi) McGinnis. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Thomas St. Clair officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lupus Foundation.
