Martha Sanes;86;of Monessen;died Sunday;Aug.29;1993;at A Touch of Heaven Personal Care Home;Charleroi. She was born Aug.12;1907;in West Elizabeth;a daughter of the late John and Cora Curry Carney. In 1924 she was selected as Miss Monessen in a beauty pageant in what was described as a run-away race. She is the widow of Irwin Izzy Sanes who operated the Donner Grill in Monessen for many years. Mrs.Sanes is survived by a daughter-in-law;Marie Foster of San Diego;Calif.;grandsons;Jack Foster and Brian Foster;two great-grandchildren;a sister;Bernice Beight of Fort Worth;Eexas;and friends;Mr.and Mrs.William Reed. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Irwin Sanes;a son;Jack Foster;a sister;Helen Acton;and a brother;John Lemley. Friends will be received at the Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home;441 Reed Ave.;Monessen;Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.Kenneth Johnson of the First Presbyterian Church of Monessen officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Monessen Ambulance Service. The Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
