Obituary

Mario O. Rusty Pesi, 78, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002 in the Canonsburg General Hospital. Born in Belle Vernon on May 30, 1924, Mr. Pesi was the son of the late Carlo and Assunta Mazzei Pesi. He was a retired crane operator for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant, having worked for 40 years. He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Rostraver Township, where he attended the Men's Sunday School Class. Prior to his illness, he delivered Meals on Wheels, worked at the Rostraver Food Bank and was recognized by the Rostraver Township Chapter of AARP for outstanding community service. A veteran of World War II, he served as a surgical technician in the European Theater from 1943-1946 with the 42nd General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Headley Pesi, one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Dudash of Eighty Four, one sister, Yolanda Pesi Neil of Belle Vernon, two grandchildren, Michael Dudash and wife Lori, and Jonna McConaughy and husband David, two great-grandsons, Ethan Dudash and Alec McConaughy, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ector and Carl Pesi, and two sisters, Rosita Fantini and Eva McGill. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Norman Melser, pastor of Olive Branch Baptist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum, Rostraver Township.
