Obituary

Margarette Moskal Semancik, 87, of Belle Vernon (Washington Township), died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at 9:52 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born Oct. 4, 1919, in Ross Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Melnik Moskal. A homemaker, Mrs. Semancik had resided in Whitsett, New Eagle and Belle Vernon. She was a graduate of Perry Township High School Class of 1937. She was the only girl in the graduating class and was the recipient of the penmanship award. Mrs. Semancik was always very proud of her handwriting and well known for her ability to do needlework. She is survived by her husband, Steve Semancik, to whom she was married 66 years, a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Peggy Semancik, of Abingdon, Va., a daughter, Dianne Semancik, of Belle Vernon, two sisters, Janet Evon and Joanna Griffith, both of Perryopolis, three granddaughters, Victoria Andrew, Helena Glaneman and Elizabeth White, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Stanley and Steve Moskal, and three sisters, Julia Sams, Stephanie Mintus and Anne Pato. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, March 3, at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church.
