Margaret M. Halkowitz; 75; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Sunday; March 7; 2004; at 2:20 p.m. in at South Western Nursing Center; West Miff1in. Born March 3; 1929; in Belle Vernon; she was the daughter of the late Michael and Magdalene Derda Halkowitz. She was a lifelong resident of Rostraver Township; member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon; where she was a member of the church choir; and she was retired from Mon Valley Hospital; where she worked as a registered nurse. Mrs. Halkowitz graduated from Rostraver High School and St. Francis School of Nursing and served 11 years in the U.S. Navy Nurses Corps during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era with the rank of LCDR. She is survived by one sister; Magdalene Greenway of Pittsburgh; 10 nieces and nephews; Michael Halkowitz of Tennessee; Ronald Halkowitz of Brownsville; Janice Lancoski of Daisytown; Deborah A. Greenway of Pittsburgh; Regis Greenway of Mechanicsburg; Mary Margaret Weathers of Alabama; Michele Greenway of Pittsburgh; Susan Palmer of Bernville; Cathy Stewart of Fredericksburg and James Wittaker of Eighty Four; 17 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and sister; Alexander Halkowitz and Frances Wittaker. Relatives and friends will gather at St. Sebastian R.C. Church on Saturday; March 13 for a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald Cyktor Jr.; parochial vicar; as celebrant. The LEONARD J.
