Obituary

Mack Halga,82,of North Belle Vernon,died Friday,June 15,2001,at 12:35 a.m.in Mt.Macrina Manor,Uniontown. He was born Oct.16,1918,in Pricedale,a son of the late Peter and Mary Wozniak Halgas. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon,he was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,and the Polish National Alliance Lodge 1146 of Monessen. He retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,where he worked for 43 years. Survivors include his wife of 60 years,Nellie Bakaitis Halgas,two brothers and sisters-in-law,Joseph and Dorothy Halgas of Arnold City,and Rudy and Virginia Halgas of Belle Vernon,and one sister and brother-in-law,Genevieve and Anthony Zema of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by one brother,Ernie Halgas. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the LEONARD J.PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME,family owned and operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev.Donald P.Trexler,parochial vicar,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 3 p.m.in the funeral home,led by the St.Sebastian Legion of Mary. The Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus will hold services Sunday at 7 p.m.in the funeral home.
