Lynward Lynn Dewey Greene Jr.; 75; a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie; N.Y.; formerly of Charleroi; passed away Wednesday; Nov. 16; 2005. He was born May 22; 1930; a son of the late Lynward Dewey Sr. and Estelle Elizabeth Greene. He was a former employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and an active member of Union Baptist Church in Monessen; under the patronship of H.A.S. Cook. After graduating high school; Mr. Greene enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served active duty in Alaska as a communications technician. After being honorably discharged from the military; he attended and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in electrical engineering. He returned to Charleroi; where he married his high school sweetheart; Barbara Anne Avery; on April 2; 1955. Mr. Greene moved his new family to the Mid-Hudson Valley in the early 1960’s; where he was employed by the IBM Corporation as an instructor/trainer. He soon became a programmer and electrical engineer at the Poughkeepsie Main Plant. Lynn rapidly moved up the corporate ladder and became a field engineer; working out of the Fox St. Office. He finished his career in Senior Management for the World Trade Division. After retiring from IBM; Mr. Greene worked as an environmental Technician at PARC in Brewster; N.Y.; for several years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; Barbara; sons; Ronald; Daryl; John and Gregory; all of Poughkeepsie; sisters; Klara Brown; of Bronx; N.Y.; Dorothy Byrd; of Donora; and Jessie Reed Reynolds; of Annandale; Va.; one brother; Donald Greene; of Woodbridge; Md.; three granddaughters; Erika and Brittany Greene; of Charlotte; N.C.; and Darcie Greene; of Poughkeepsie; one grandson; Gregory Nathan Greene; and one great-granddaughter; Lailani Hull; and a host of nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received Tuesday; Nov. 22; at 10 a.m. in Union Baptist Church; 670 McMahon Ave.; Monessen. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the church with Elder Jack E. Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME INC.; Monessen.
