Obituary

Mrs. Isola Bonucci,an aged woman of Belle Vernon, has been in a semi-conscious state for over twenty-four hours, following the death of her son in the Memorial hospital Thursday afternoon,August 3,1916. Mrs. Bonucci was called to the bedside of her son Lewis, who had been a patient in the Memorial hospital at Monongahela for the past twelve days, suffering of spinal meningitis. When his condition became known to the woman she seemed greatly depressed and when notified at 12:30 that her son had passed away she fainted and despite the efforts of physicians could not be brought to consciousness.  At times she opened her eyes only to swoon away for long periods, and no relief seemed possible. Mrs. Emil Vernacci was at the hospital at the time and volunteered to take the woman to her home in her automobile.  On leaving the hospital the woman's condition became so serious that she was brought to Monessen and placed in the home of Mrs. Vernacci until evening when she was removed to her home in Belle Vernon, still unconscious.  About two years ago,the woman's husband was killed in a mine accident and Mrs. Bonucci, who evidently suffers from a weak heart fainted and remained in a semi-conscious state for four days.
