Obituary

Lucille Jordan Cribbs,84,of Blind Lane, Belle Vernon,died Friday,Nov. 5,1993,in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township.  Mrs. Cribbs was born Nov. 25,1909,in Mobile, Ala.,a daughter of the late William and Estella Jordan Cribbs.  She had been a resident of the Pricedale area all of her life. Mrs. Cribbs was one of the pioneer founders of the Head Start Program.  She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church,Belle Vernon,where she served as a Sunday School teacher,and a member of the Senior Choir,Missionary Circle and Usher Board of the Church.  Mrs. Cribbs had been active in all church functions. She was a member of the Democratic Community Women,the Friends' Club,and the Senior Action Council.  Mrs. Cribbs was also a member and president of the Valliares Social Group. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Bethlehem, Chapter 24.  Her husband,William Cribbs, died Dec. 23,1965. Three sisters, Willa Mae Simpson,Rosa Brown and Jesse Jordan,and one daughter, Vivian Ross,are also deceased. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William P. and Gloria Cribbs of Jamacia Plains, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Willa Jean) Bell of Donora and Rosetta Martin of Petersburg,Va.;14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church,Highland and Henry streets, Belle Vernon.  Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church,with the Rev. Clifford Carter,pastor,and the Rev. Luther Wormack,co-officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The William R. Taylor Funeral Home,Trudy Taylor Jamison,funeral director,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen is handling arrangements.
