Lt.Nicholas J.Lykos;of Broad avenue;Belle Vernon;a bombardier on a B-17 Flying Fortress;was killed instantly from injuries received by flak on his 26th mission while his ship was over the target at Blechhammer;Germany;on December 26;1944. Lieutenant Lykos was born in Roscoe Nov.25;1921 and was graduated from California High School and University of Pittsburgh. Before entering Pitt;he attended George Washington University;Washington;D.C. Enlisting in the Army Air Forces;Feb.23;1943;he received his wings at Big Springs;Texas;on April 29;1944. He is survived by his parents;Mr.and Mrs.John Lykos;three brothers;Thomas J.;John Jr.and Isadore and one sister;Christina. Friends are being received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home in Belle Vernon beginning Sunday Aug.21.
