Obituary

Lt.Nicholas J.Lykos,of Broad avenue,Belle Vernon,a bombardier on a B-17 Flying Fortress,was killed instantly from injuries received by flak on his 26th mission while his ship was over the target at Blechhammer,Germany,on December 26,1944. Lieutenant Lykos was born in Roscoe Nov.25,1921 and was graduated from California High School and University of Pittsburgh. Before entering Pitt,he attended George Washington University,Washington,D.C. Enlisting in the Army Air Forces,Feb.23,1943,he received his wings at Big Springs,Texas,on April 29,1944. He is survived by his parents,Mr.and Mrs.John Lykos,three brothers,Thomas J.,John Jr.and Isadore and one sister,Christina. Friends are being received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home in Belle Vernon beginning Sunday Aug.21.
