Obituary

Pfc.Louis Mazzei,23,who made his home with Mr.and Mrs.Carlo Peso,of East Belle Vernon,died of wounds received in action in Germany on April 22,1945. The news of his death arrived Sunday,May 6,1945,on the eve of the surrender of the German forces in Europe. On Thursday of last week Mr.and Mrs.Pesi were notified that Private Mazzei was wounded in action in Germany on April 15. His death came seven days later. Private Mazzei was born on April 26,1922 in Daisytown,but later went to Italy with his parents. He returned to the United States in 1940 and lived in Belle Vernon,working at the Belle Vernon plant of the American Window Glass Company. He entered the armes forces on Nov.28,1942,and trained in Oregon,Arizona and Colorado,going overseas in August 1944. He was with the 104th Timberwolf Division. He is survived by his parents,Mr.and Mrs.Joseph Mazzei,and one sister,Louise,in Italy. He was a cousin of Mrs.Pesi.
