Obituary

Both the Belle Veinon and North| Belle Vernon fire departments responded Monday night at 7 o'clock when a call was sent announcing a fire in the garage of J. Gilollatta, on Main street. The fire was practically without property damage, but two persons were badly burned as a result of a gasoline explosion. The fire was caused by Mr. Gilollatto striking a match near a gallon of gasoline. Flames immediately shot from the can, igniting Mr. Gilollatta's clothes, enveloping him in flames. His son, aged 18, who was near the garage at the time rushe to rescue his father and was also burned before the fireman arrived to wxtinguish the flames.  Medical aid was summoned and both of the men were given first aid and were removed to their home, where their injuries were dressed. It is said on Tuesday that while both are painfully burned they will recover. The fire did very little damage to the garage.  The death of Louis Haught, aged 41 years, residing on First Street, Belle Vernon, was indirectly the result of the fire.  Mr. Haught, who is a member of the Belle Vernon fire department took his place on the fire truck when the alarm was turned in,but was stricken ill when the firemen arrived at the scene.  He collapsed and was removed to his home where he lingered until 5 o'clock Tuesday morning when he passed away.  Mr. Haught was a distinguished citizen of Belle Vernon and a loyal and devoted member of the volunteer fire department of the town and also loyal to the cause.  His death has brought a great shock to the community as well as to his family.  He is survived by a widow and one son,Louis,a student in the high school.  The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the M.E.Church and will be in charge of the volunteer fire department.  Interment will be made in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
