Obituary

Louis M. Kunka, 82, of Rostraver Township, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 in his home. Born in Monessen on Oct. 10, 1922, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Keller Kunka. He was retired from the United States Bureau of Mines, where he worked as a lab technician. Mr. Kunka was a member of First Christian Church of Monessen, the Mon Valley Chordsmen and an ardent sports fan for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pirates and the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Martha Cathers Kunka, two sons, Monte Kunka and wife Toni-Jo of Rostraver Township and Kurt Kunka of State College, three daughters, Kimberly Garr and husband Larry of Upper Marlboro, Md., Lori Holland and fiance Rob Surrett of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Jody Parente and fiance Larry Hussar of Belle Vernon, five grandchildren, Jeremy Holland, Jillian Kunka, Jessica and Jeffrey Parente, and Brittany Garr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Myra Kunka, and three brothers, Eugene, Jess and Myron Kunka. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNEAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Dr., Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township with the Rev. Conrad Auel officiating. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Rostraver Township, will be held at the convenience of the family.
