Louis J. "Jutsie" Merando of 58 Willow Drive, Monessen,died Monday, Feb. 15,1999,at 1:33 p.m. in Westmoreland Manor,Hempfield Township,following a lengthy illness. He was born in Monessen on July 11,1925,a son of the late Salvador and Mary (Leone) Merando. Mr. Merando was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1945 graduate of Monessen High School. He retired after 40 years of servce as a postal clerk,having worked from 1960 to 1987 at the Monessen Post Office. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church of Monessen and the Italian Mutual Aid Society. Mr. Merando was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II,having served with the 467th AAF Base Unit. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Genevieve C. (DeSimone) Merando;two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel F. and Jayne Merando of Monessen and Louis D. and Linda Merando of Charleroi; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Eleanor Merando of Monessen;a brother-in-law,Clifford Litterini of Monessen;three grandchildren,Samuel Joseph,Jessica Lynn an Erica MichelleMerando. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Litterini. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc.,441 Reed Ave.,Monessen. Funeral servces will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Eiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. Timothy J. Billick,funeral director.
