Obituary

Louis Allen Saunders,1000 Nash avenue,Monessen,died Monday,January 26,1948,at 5:45 p.m.in the McKeesport Hospital of a broken neck suffered Saturday,when an automobile in which he was riding overturned and slid down an embankment near Donora. He was born in Belle Vernon January 13,1915 and had resided in Monessen for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Wayman A.M.E.Church. He was a World War II veteran,having served in the U.S.Army. He is survived by his mother,Mrs.Lillian Saunders McGrain,step-father,Morris McGrain,two brothers,Orvell and Harold,four sisters,Mrs.Helen Richards of Pittsburgh,Mrs.Louise Felder of New York,Miss Elizabeth Saunders of Monessen,and Mrs.Prudence Whitlock of New York. Friends will be received at the Edith M.Whitaker Funeral Home,645 McMahon avenue until Monday,February 2,when funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.in the Wayman A.M.E.Church,in charge of Rev.L.A.Cousin.
