Obituary

Louis A. Antonucci Sr., 84, of Belle Vernon, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, in Country Meadows Nursing Facility, Bridgeville. Born Sept. 5, 1926, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Cosimo Antonucci Sr. and Divina Santoro Antonucci. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 41 years, Mr. Antonucci was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, and was a retired blast furnace operator from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army, a former member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Charleroi VFW Post 167. He was an umpire for 35 years. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Louis A. and Lisa Antonucci Jr., of Londonderry, N.H., two daughters, SueAnne Antonucci, of Daisytown, and Cheryl Lynn Antonucci, of Belle Vernon, four grandchildren, Amber Josson Coulter and husband, Chris, of Ogden, Kan., Jason Antonucci, of Providence, R.I., Brian Antonucci, of Manchester, N.H., and Dale Josson, of Belle Vernon, two great-grandchildren, Miriya Coulter and Hayden Coulter, of Ogden, Kan., three sisters, Matilda Cyanovich, of Scenery Hill, Carmella Washlak, of Charleroi, Lena Byrne, of Coal Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ester McCullough Antonucci, who died Sept. 23, 1994, three sisters, Sylvia Swamp, Marie DeBlassio and Dora Allen, and two brothers, Cirro and Cosimo Antonucci. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, (724) 929-6183. Prayer service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick, pastor, as celebrant. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Louis Antonucci on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
