Obituary

Lloyd J. Lazzari, 90, of North Belle Vernon, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015, in the Hallsworth House, Monessen. A son of the late Felix and Margaret Ferrari Lazzari, he was born in Belle Vernon on Aug. 18, 1924. Lloyd was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, member and past president of the Belle Vernon Lions Club, former member and past president of the Washington Township Lions Club, former commissioner for the Boy Scouts, and was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion, Post 659. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Enright. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, he had been employed at Monessen Southwestern Railroad as an Engineer, retiring in 1981. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marcy Lazzari of Burlington, N.C.; one daughter, Cindy Lazzari of Prescott, Ariz.; one sister, Lorraine Povich, formerly of Monessen; and two grandchildren, Kristina Lazzari of Wilmington, N.C. and Robbie Lazzari of Lancaster, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. Bell Lazzari; and a brother, Delmas Lazzari. Betty was the love of his life and they enjoyed traveling the world after their retirement. A blessing will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 3 p.m. led by members of St. Sebastian parish; the Belle Vernon Lions Club will meet in the funeral home at 7 p.m., both on Friday.
