Obituary

Lloyd K. FieldsLibrary, PA, 60 departed this life unexpectedly on August 30, 2024.  He was born June 20, 1964, in North Charleroi, to Linda Wilson of Pricedale, and the late James B. Detwiler of Elizabeth.  Lloyd graduated from South Park High School in 1982 and enlisted in the United States Navy.  He left on June 28, 1982, two days after graduation and remained in active duty until February 3, 2012 (42 yrs.).  At the time of his retirement, he was an electronics technician chief.  During his naval career he was awarded many medals, badges, ribbons and commendations including four Navy and Marine Corp achievement medals, two Navy Good Conduct medals, five Naval reserve Meritorious Service medals, two National Defense Service medals, Member recalled to active duty in support of operation Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom Per Presidential Executive order 13223 and USC 12302, amongst many more others too numerous to name.  Upon retirement from the Navy, Lloyd chose to remain in California for another six years, after which time he made the decision to move back home to be near his mother upon the passing of his brother.  Lloyd enjoyed time with family and friends, but truly valued his time alone listening to scriptures and gospel music.  He had a very kind and sweet spirit, always offering to help out in any way that he could.  He was a faithful supporter of the men's ministry of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Library, PA and Crenshaw Baptist Church.  He was a true believer in God and a faithful servant.  In addition to his father,  James B. Detwiler, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Frederick and Bernice Fields; and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Lois Detwiler; a brother, Sean Detwiler; a niece, Keiauna L. Davis; and several aunts and uncles.  He is survived by  his mother, Linda Wilson; one brother, Anthony S. Malcolm of Baldwin, PA; Shelly M. Parham of Pricedale, PA; Sheila M. Detwiler of Charlotte, NC; a best friend, Eric Higgs; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.    Viewing will take place from 4-8 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2024, at Union Baptist Church, 670  McMahon Avenue, Monessen, with service at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024, with Rev. Montae Nicholson, pastor.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Funeral home number, 724-379-5420.
