Mrs.Lillian Baker Saunders;88;of 686 Ninth St.;Monessen;died at 9 a.m. Tuesday;Oct.24;1972;at her residence following an illness of eight months. Born Sept.25;1884;in Braddock;she was the daughter of the late James and Carrie Baker. She had been a resident of Monessen for most of her adult life and was active in church and civic affairs. Mrs.McCraw was well known for her elocution and writings and she gave many concerts throughout the mid-Mon Valley. In 1947;she married John Maurice McCraw and moved to Aquasco;Md.;where she resided until she became ill several months ago and returned to Monessen. She was a member of Wayman A.M.E.Church of Monessen. Surviving are her husband;John McCraw;of Monessen;four daughters;Mrs.Elizabeth Brooks of Monessen;Mrs.Helen Richards of Braddock;Mrs.Louise Felder and Mrs.Prudence Elliott;both of New York City;two sons;Orville Saunders of Washington;D.C.;and Harold Saunders of Aquasco;two sisters;Mrs.Noreen Dregan of Cleveland;Ohio;and Mrs.Anna B.Gentry of Braddock;12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received atfer 7 p.m.today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.tomorrow and Friday at the Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home;608 Sixth St.;Monesssen. Services will be held at 1 p.m.Saturday in the Wayman A.M.E.Church of Monessen;with the Rev.Robert Dye delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C.Draper is the funeral director.
