Obituary

Leonard H.Doty of 1540 Leeds Ave.,Monessen,died Sunday,May 12,1985,in his home. He was 63. Mr.Doty was born May 13,1921,in Monessen,a son of Daniel Doty Sr.,who survives,and the late Anna Delzangle Doty,who died in 1980. Mr.Doty retired in 1975 as a foreman in the BOF Plant of the Monessen Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Mr.Doty was a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church,Monessen. He was a life member of Monessen Volunteer Fire Department No.1,was a charter member of the Monessen Ambulance Service,and was a member of the American Legion. A U.S.Army veteran of World War II,Mr.Doty had been in a German prison. He was decorated twice with the Purple Heart and had received the World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars. In addition to his mother,he was preceded in death by a son,Duane Leonard Doty,in 1981. Surviving,in addition to his father,are his wife,Dorothy Paytas Doty,a daughter and son-in-law,Dorothy Urbanowicz and Charles Urbanowicz of Monessen,a son and daughter-in-law,Ronald W.and Barbara Doty of Greensurg,two grandchildren,Melissa and Brian,and one brother,Daniel Doty Jr.,of Monessen. Friends will be received in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home,followed by a 2:30 p.m.Mass of Christian Burial in Most Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church,Monessen. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,is in charge of arrangements.
