Leona M. Midge Smith; 84; of Monessen; died Tuesday; Jan. 4; 2005; in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born March 20; 1920; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Lemuel E. Kidwell and Anna Oates Kidwell. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star 205 of Monessen and the United Methodist Church of Monessen; where she had been a member of the choir. She is survived by her husband; Jay S. Smith; whom she married March 2; 1945; two daughters; Mrs. Joe (Beverly) Valente of Crafton and Karen Stasko and companion Ted Haluschak of Speers; five grandchildren; Jenny Valente; Lisa Smith and husband Carl; Joe Valente Jr. and wife Melanie; Maria Stasko; and Jimmy Stasko Jr. and wife Margaret; five great-grandchildren; Michael; Tommy; Greg; Alyssa and Reece; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two brothers; Kenny and Leonard Kidwell; and three sisters; Marie Kidwell; Wanita Harper and Audra Rankin; and his son-in law; Jimmy Stasko. Friends will be received at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.; 1209 Grand Blvd.; Monessen; a Golden Rule Funeral Home; on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday; Jan. 7; at 10 a.m.; followed by interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
