Leona Edith Merlo; 92; of Charleroi; died on Monday; July 18; in Kindred Hospital of Pittsburgh. Born on Aug. 8; 1918; in Donora; she was the daughter of the late Fred and Leona (Meissonier) Bissiere. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charleroi. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Larry and LeeAnn Merlo; of R.I.; granddaughter; Kristen Merlo; devoted niece; Sharon Willey; of Charleroi; great-nieces; Jennifer (Joe) King; of Edgewater; Md.; and Heather Rumbarger; of Coatesville; Pa.; great-great-nephew; William King; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her husband; Victor L. Merlo; in 1975; sisters; Audrey Haywood; and Mercedes Barnett; and an infant son. Friends will be received on Wednesday; July 20; from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.; in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME; 819 Fallowfield Ave.; Charleroi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday; July 21; at 11 a.m.; in the funeral home; with Pastor Ross Pryor celebrating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
