Obituary

Leo H.Hixenbaugh,a former North Belle Vernon Borough secretary for many years, of 325 Darthmoulh Ave., Swathmore, Pa., died Sunday,March 27,1983, at 7:30 p.m. in the Connor-Williams Rest Home, Ridley Park, Pa. He was 80. Mr. Hlxenbaugh was born Oct. 3, 1902, In Belle Vernon, a son of the late Freeman and Beatrice Richards Hixenbaugh. A banker by profession, Mr. Hlxenbaugh retired from Equibank. N.A., in 1967,where he served as manager of Equibank's Roscoe,Finleyille and California branch offices. A 32nd degree Mason and past master of Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge, he was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents,Mr.Hixenbaugh was also preceded in death by a granddaughter,Susan Maclay,on Feb.15,1961. Surviving are his wife,Rachael B.Hixenbaugh,at home,one daughter,Mrs.Don (Nancy) Maclay of Springfield,Pa.,one grandson,Timothy Maclay of Springfield,Pa.,and two sisters,Mrs.Lawrence (Edith) George of York,Pa.,and Mrs.Leighty (Marie) Steen of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 10 a.m.to 12 noon. Graveside services will be held at 12:15 p.m.Wednesday,with the Rev.Lee Dinsel,pastor,First United Methodist Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Raymond D.Dalfonso Funeral Home,441 Reed Ave.,Monessen,is in charge of arrangements.
