Obituary

Mrs. Lela A. Frye,a life long resident of this immediate section,the past 45 years of which have been spent in Monessen,died suddenly Sunday morning,November 14,1943,at her home,24 Linden avenue,of a heart attack.  She was born in Webster and was 65 years of age. A member of the Methodist Church since childhood,Mrs. Frye was actively identified with the local church.  She was a member of the Isabelle Thoburn Sunday school class,the Women's Society of Chrisian Service and served for many years as secretary of the Sunday school.  Fraternally she was a member of the Women's Benefit Association of Monessen,the Dames of Malta of Charleroi,the Rebekah lodge of Charleroi and the Daughters of America of Belle Vernon. Mrs. Frye held one of the first clerical positions in Monessen,coming here as bookkeeper for Shuster Bros.,the first grocery store in the city. Surviving are her husband, Ira D. Frye,and four children,Veryl Frye and Donovan Frye,of LaPorte,Indiana,Audley Frye,of Monessen,and Mrs. Dorothy L. Glasser,at home. Eight grandchildren also survive along with four brothers,L.L. Reeves of Monessen,R.B. Reeves of Aliquippa,Thurman and Fell Reeves,of Belle Vernon and three sisters,Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford of Monessen,Mrs. Hazel Sphar of Charleroi and Mrs. Charlotte Ferren of Allenport. Friends are being received at the Woodward Home for Funerals where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock,with Rev. Ted V. Voorhees, pastor of the Methodist Church,officiating.  Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Dave H. Woodward,funeral director, in charge.
