Obituary

Leah Gene Sears of Westgate Manor,Apartment 702,Monessen,died Wednesday,Jan.1,1985,at 3:05 p.m. inthe Mon Valley Hospital. She was 63. Mrs.Sears was born Jan.10,1922,in North Charleroi,a daughter of Nellie Devroud Francis of Gulfport,Fla.,and the late Frank W.Francis. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monongahela,she had lived in the Belle Vernon and Monessen areas the past nine years. Mrs.Sears served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II. Survivors include two sons,David Francis of Coatesville and Sgt.Frank Sears of Colorado Springs,Colo.,three daughters,Mrs.Joseph (Sally) Bachism of Monessen,Sherry Sears of Monessen and Mrs.Kenneth (Barbara) Sethman of Belle Vernon,a brother,Merland Francis of Fayetteville,N.C.,and ten grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Saturday,Jan.4 at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Charles LaPlaca,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
