Obituary

Lawrence L. Wentzel of 322 Woodland Ave., Charleroi, died Wednesday at 4:25 a.m. in the Washington Hospital Extended Care Facility. He was 70. Mr. Wentzel was born July 16, 1913, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Lawrence L. and Florence Booth Wentzel. He was a retired river boat captain and pilot for Mon River Towing, Inc. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wentzel was preceded In death by a brother, Charles Wentzel. Survivors include his widow, Margaret Williams Wentzel; three daughters, Mrs. William (Donna) Yesensky of Charleroi and Janet Kossol and Margy Duda, both of Fallowfield Twp.; one brother, Donald L. Wentzel of Highlands, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Irene Rankin of
Washington, Pa.; two grandsons, Jerome L. and Dean D. Kossol; one granddaughter, Donna June Van Voorhis; and three great-grandchildren, Louann and Jenny Van Voorhis and Brennan Kossol.Friends will be received Thursday and Friday from 2 lo 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Fallowfleld Ave., Charlerol,where services will be held Saturday,Aug.27,at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Gerald McCormick,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Charleoi,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
