Obituary

Lawrence G. Butch Forbeck, 69, of North Belle Vernon, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at 4:27 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family. Born Nov. 25, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Eugene and Clara Wendell Forbeck. A resident of North Belle Vernon for the past 52 years, Mr. Forbeck was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon where he also served on the Pastoral Council, was a Sunday collection counter, served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the church funeral choir. He was a retired postal employee for the U.S. Post Office, Belle Vernon branch and a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the U.S. Army. Butch was a member of the American Legion Post 659, Life Member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department, life member of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association holding position as Treasurer, President/CEO of the Washington County Postal Federal Credit Union and was employed at the Leonard J. Parzynski funeral home as an attendant for the past nine years. Butch also loved to tend to his garden. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lance and Dawn Forbeck of Carlisle, Pa., Erik Forbeck of Cornelius, N.C., one daughter and son-in-law, Cherie A. and Patrick Weld of Poolsville, Md., two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Gene and Paul Delsandro of Monongahela and Sister Eugenia Forbeck of Natrona Heights, two brothers-in-law, Arnold and Brenda Frankie of Bentleyville, and Dennis Frankie of Fairhope, 13 grandchildren Riana, Collin, Ashton, Reed, Vail, Cecilia, Aquila, Clara, Bridget, Benedict, Gema Forbeck, Christopher and Elizabeth Weld, and a special friend, Georgia Rush of Fayette City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna M. Frankie Forbeck, on Jan. 2, 1995, a brother, Joseph F. Forbeck, and a sister, Patricia Capponi. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The North Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services Monday evening at 7 p.m. and members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Lawrence Forbeck Tuesday at 3 p.m., and the Belle Vernon American Legion will hold services Tuesday at 7 p.m., all in the funeral home.
