Obituary

Laura Kwiatkowski Hammerash,98,of North Belle Vernon,died Friday,May 13,2011 at 12:15 p.m. Born May 9,1913 in Monessen,she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ann Popkowki Kwiatkowski. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,Mrs.Hammerash was a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church,was a great cook,pie and cake maker,loved gardening and taking care of her flowers and enjoyed dancing. She was a member of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas B.V.Court 1522,the Tuesday night bowling league and the PNA Lodge of Monessen. She is survived by two sons & one daughter-in-law William J.& Gerry Hammersash of Perryopolis,Daniel W.Hammerash of Belle Vernon,brother Victor Howski of Monessen,two sisters & brothers-in- law Katherine & Frank Strodoski of Dearborne,MI.,Harriet & Raymond Caldwater of Monessen,3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband William Hammerash,five brothers Chester,Walter,Edmund and Anthony Howski and Leonard Kwiatkowski and a sister Virginia Cristy. Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Loenard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,Family Owned and Operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer Service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St.Sebastian R.C.Church with the Rev.Msgr.Roger A.Stanick,pastor,as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St.Sebastian Parish will pray the Rosary for the departed soul of Laura Hammerash Monday at 3 pm in the funeral home.
