Obituary

Our neigboring community of Speers was suddenly plunged into grief Wednesday afternoon, June 11,1919, when it was announced the Lash L. Beazell,a young man aged 18 years,had been drowned in the Monongahela river.  The young man gave his life in a heroic and sucessful attempt to save the life of Ward Speers,the exertion exhausting him to such an extent that he was unable to reach shore in safety. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Beazell of Speers and a very popular young man,having resided there all his life. He was an active member of the Speers Methodist Episcopal Church,a graduate of the Charleroi high school and a member of the Alpha Phi Beta. He is survved by his parents,one sister,Myrtle and two brothers, Arthur and Fred,all at home. James T. Heffran is an uncle of the young man.  Funeral services will be held at his late home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
