Obituary

Kirby P. Manown Sr., 69, of Lynnwood, Belle Vernon, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. A son of the late Clinton H. and Ida Lermineaux Manown, he was born May 31, 1932, in Rostraver Township. He was a charter member of Lynnwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of the Fayette City F&AM Lodge 252, the Charleroi Italian Unita Club and the Star Junction Fish and Game Club. A lifelong Belle Vernon resident, he had resided in Lynnwood for the past 40 years and retired in 1982 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Kramer Manown, two sons, Kirby P. Manown Jr. of Waynesville, N.C., and Erik Manown at home, two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Bud Little and Dana Manown Shupenko, all of Rostraver Township, two brothers and a sister, William and Frank Manown and Rebecca Jannotta, all of Belle Vernon, and four grandsons, Andrew and Mathew Little, Joseph Shupenko and Kirby Manown III. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin, George, Jack and Clinton ``Tinse'' Manown, and three sisters, Naomi Kuss, Louise Bedner and Adele Cramer. Friends will be received at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Lynnwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Washington Road, with the Rev. Donald Chudd officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
