Obituary

Kevin Brent Truax passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Thursday, December 29, 2022 in North Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 66 after many years of living with end stage renal disease. He was born August 21, 1956, in Martinsville, Indiana and was raised in Mooresville, Indiana. Kevin was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Terrance and Helen Scott Truax and mother, Barbara Stiles Truax, as well as his sister, Karen Truax, stepbrother, Bradley Scott, and brother-in-law, R. Byron Weightman. Kevin graduated in 1974 from Mooresville High School in Indiana and exceled at baseball leading him to tryouts for the Indianapolis Indians. Kevin’s life-long love of baseball spanned many years of coaching and umpiring Little League teams both in Indiana and Cape Coral, Florida, as well as participating in Roy Hobbs Baseball. Kevin was employed by Florida Power and Light in Fort Myers, FL for 30 years until his retirement in 2016. On March 10, 2001, Kevin married Valinda Weightman, who survives. Kevin is, also, survived by his sons, Brandon (wife, Kristy) of Wesley Chapel, FL and Bryan; his sister, Sharon (husband, Marty) Sheets of Indiana; stepbrothers, Tracy (wife, Vanessa) Scott of Martinsville, IN and Gregory (wife, Cara) of Indiana; mother-in-law, Joanne Weightman; brother-in-law, Robert Weightman (wife, Mary); sister-in-law, Sandra Weightman; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends too numerous to list, but not forgotten. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Belle Vernon Cemetery in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Healthcare at
