Obituary

Kenneth R. Strenske, 69, of North Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 24, 2010, in his home. A son of the late Carl K. and Mary Louise Reynolds Strenske, he was born in North Charleroi on Sept. 20, 1940. A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Belle Vernon, he was serving as an elder, co-chair of the personnel committee, chair of the nominating committee, and was the manager of both the dartball team and the B.V. Presby's Softball Team. Ken was also a member of the Belle Vernon Lions Club, where he received a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, was a past president, currently the chair of both the membership and carnival committees, and was to be installed as the 2010-2011 president on June 29, 2010. He lived most of his life in the same home on Broad Avenue, retired in 2000 as the branch manager of the former National City Bank, Belle Vernon office, had been a driver for Rite-Aid Pharmacy for the past five years, and, in the late 1960's, served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was the loving husband and father to Sherry Palfrey Strenske, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage, and Susan Strenske, of Belle Vernon. Other survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and John Conger, of Donora, one uncle and two aunts, Harold and Rosemary Strenske, of Belle Vernon and Jackie Reynolds, of Diamond City, Ariz., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m.. Saturday, June 26, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 27, in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, (724) 929-5300. www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the First Presbyterian Church, Monday, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Interment will be in Belle Cemetery. On Sunday, in the funeral home, the officers and members of the First Presbyterian Church will meet to hold services at 2 p.m. and the Belle Vernon Lions Club will for services at 7 p.m.
