Obituary

Kathleen Mary Kobosky, (Lahti), of Belle Vernon, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at her winter home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Kobosky was born November 2, 1941, in North Charleroi, to Harry Lahti and Carmilla Lahti (Baumgardner). She attended Bellmar High School in Belle Vernon. She continued her education at Westmoreland Community College in Youngwood, where she graduated with highest honors with a degree in hotel management, on the Dean's List and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She loved to travel, including a four-year stay in Amsterdam, Netherlands, a safari adventure in Kenya, Africa, and many other destinations around the world. She was Presbyterian by faith. She is survived by her husband, Carl (Rudy) Kobosky; sons, Richard of Belle Vernon, Rudolph of Delmont, Pa.; and daughter, Debra Kobosky (Smail) of New Stanton. She has three surviving brothers, Harry of Belle Vernon, John of Belle Vernon, and Robert of Houston, Texas; and one sister, Patricia Farquhar of Fayette City. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Wesley Kobosky of Belle Vernon and Jamie Kobosky (Blackhurst) of Fredonia, Pa.; and one great-grandson, Connor Blackhurst. Family and friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Private interment will take place in the Belle Vernon Cemetery at a later time for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.
