She was born Sept. 17; 1922; in Ellsworth; daughter of the late Edward Nix and late Minnie Coleman Nix. She was Lutheran by faith. Surviving is her loving and devoted family; including sons Guy Thomas Hess and wife; Vicki; of Belle Vernon; Fred Hess of Charleroi; daughters Karen Poziviak and husband John of Dunlevy; Kit Dzatko and husband Jim; of Monessen; sister; Helen Cheatham and husband James; of New Kensington; sister-in-law Lois (Hess) Fowler and husband Edward; of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren; Michael Dzonko and wife Kelly; of Belle Vernon; Guy Hess and wife Joelene; of Export; Brian Hess; of Belle Vernon; Lori Kozar; of Belle Vernon; Jodi Edmiston and husband Brian; of Derry; and Missy Falkenstein; of West Newton; 10 great-grandchildren; Micah Dzonko; Logan Kozar; Destiny Tonecha; Dakota; Hunter and Mackenzie Edmiston; Austin and Niko Hess; Addyson Poziviak and Samantha Falkenstein. She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Hess; brother; Ted Nix; sisters Irene Smith; and Aurelia Smith; granddaughter Kimberly Ann Hess; grandson Eric Lee Dzonko; daughter-in-law Deborah Hess.
