Obituary

Josephine L. Nagy, 86, of Monessen, passed away in Monongahela Valley Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. A daughter of the late Oliver T. and Maude I. Doran Bateman, she was born in Perryopolis. A resident of Monessen since 1954, she was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church, of Charleroi, and had been employed at the former G.C. Murphy Company store in Tri-County Plaza. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Tom Hess, of Belle Vernon, and Karen and Robert Jurkiewicz, of Charleroi, one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph M. and Cheryl Nagy, of Belle Vernon, one sister, Marjorie Miket, of Whitehall, two grandchildren, Robert Jurkiewicz and his wife, Melissa, of Irwin, and Melanie Nagy, of Belle Vernon, and one great-granddaughter, Addison Jurkiewicz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nagy, on Nov. 11, 1997, five sisters, Mildred Kingan, Sefhana Moore, Maude Farquhar, Betty Mensch and Martha Swearer, and four brothers, George, Samuel, Thomas and Edsel Bateman. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, (724) 929-5300, www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Family and friends will gather in the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 22, at 12:15 p.m. and proceed to Mary, Mother of the Church for a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
