Obituary

Joseph W.Rainey of Johnson Hollow,Fayette City,died Friday,March 29,1985,at 5:06 p.m.in the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton,Mass. He was 75. Mr.Rainey was born in Barnsboro on Dec.1,1909,a son of the late George W.and Maryann Hardy Rainey. Protestant by faith,he was a member of F&AM of Belle Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II,having served in the U.S.Navy. He was retired from the Monessen Southwestern Railroad of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen plant. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife,Margaret in 1980,a son,George in 1974,and a brother,Edwin in 1977. Survivors include three sons,Joseph Edward Rainey of Chesterton,Ind.,James H.Rainey of Newton,Mass.,and David G.Rainey of Fayette City,three daughters,Mrs.Elva Mae Coco of Pittsburgh,Mrs.Margaret Colvin of Pensacola,Fla.,and Mrs.Ruth D.Short of Fayette City,28 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren,two brothers,John Rainey of Garrett,Md. and Robert Rainey of Nashville,Tenn.,and three sisters,Mrs.Isabel Hotochin of Monessen,Mrs.Mary Sethman of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Georgina Waggoner of Donora. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 11 a.m. when services will be held at the funeral home with the Rev.Wayne Borings officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
