Obituary

Joseph W. Hags, 92, of Export (Mamont area), died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette. He was born Sept. 4, 1910, in Rankin, a son of the late Louis and Mary (Peters) Hags. He was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, Delmont. Joseph was a retired engineer from the U.S. Steel Research Center in Monroeville. He was a life member of both the Iron and Steel Engineers and American Society of Metals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bella Murphy, and three brothers, Lawrence, Vincent and Robert Hags. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty (Elgin) Hags, three sisters, Rose Cenis of Blairsville, Lillian Anderson of Turtle Creek and Dorothy Humberson of Wilkins Township, a great-nephew, Joseph, and a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Joseph's funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle Church with Father James M.
