Obituary

Joseph W.Cekoski,82,of 812 Belle St.,Belle Vernon (Lynnwood),died Saturday,Nov.21,1998,in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh.  Born June 2,1916,in Monessen,he was a son of the late Leonard and Stella Dombek Czajkowski.  A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,he was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church.  Mr.Cekoski was a U.S.Army-Air Force veteran of World War II,serving as a staff sergeant.  He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659.  Mr.Cekoski was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp,Monessen plant,where he had worked in the shipping and safety departments.  Survivors include his wife,Genevieve Vavro Gregor Cekoski and one daughter,Carol Sekoski of Pittsburgh.  In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his first wife,Sophia Fetsko Cekoski on July 28,1989,three brothers,Raymond Sekoski,Fred Sekoski and Chester Cinders,and one sister,Regina Lahti.  Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a Prayer service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.,followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Tuesday at 3 p.m.in the funeral home.  Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.in the funeral home.  The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
