Joseph W.Carroll;80;of 313 Market St.;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;Sept.20;1972;at 8:45 p.m. in the Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital;Inc.following a lingering illness. Born July 28;1892;in Elizabeth;he was a son of the late Nicholas and Mary McKenna Carroll. Mr.Carroll was a retired employee of the former American Window Glass Co.of Belle Vernon. A World War I veteran;he was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Surviving are his widow;Margaret (Maggie) Dudgeon Carroll;a daughter;Mrs.Harry (Margaret) Martz of Belle Vernon;a son;William J.of Columbus;Ohio;five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends are being received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. today in the Harold R.Toner Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Akester of the Church of the Nazarene in Smithton in charge. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner is the funeral director.
