Obituary

Joeph Stanley Lavik,76,of 909 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday, May 26,1976 at 7:55 a.m. in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital.  He was born Dec. 30,1899 in Poland,the son of the late John and Mary Lavik. He was a retired employee of People's Natural Gas Co.,Monessen,and a member of St. Sebastian's Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2,Fayette County Firemen's Association and Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association. Surviving are his wife, Nellie Tidd Lavik;one son, Charles of Cranston, R.I.;one daughter,Mrs. Dolores Osborne of Barstow,Calif,;three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lavik of Baden,Mrs. Sophie Smith of Vernice,Fla. and Ann Lavik of Tampa,Fla.;three grandchidlren and two great-grandchidlren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m. Wednesday until services Saturday May 29,1976,at 10 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church,Belle Vernon with Fr. Edward Gearing celebrant.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
