Joseph (Shakey) Bednar Jr.of Gillespie;Fayette City;died Thursday;March 20;1986;at 9:20 p.m.in the Oak Hill Home of Rest and Care;Greensburg. He was 77. Born in Washington Township;Fayette County;on Feb.12;1909;he was a son of the late Joseph Bednar Sr.and Mary Matvej Bednar. Mr.Bednar was a member of the Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church of Charleroi. He retired from the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Surviving are his wife;Anna Teringo Bednar;one son;Leonard J.Bednar of Mt.Laurel;N.J.;two grandsons;Paul D.and Christopher Jr.Bednar;one brother;George Bednar of Fayette City R.D.;and three sisters;Mrs.Anna Poprocky of Uniontown;Mrs.Kathryn Vesely of Fayette City R.D.1 and Mrs.John (Margaret) Buckley of Bethesda;Md. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and all day Sunday at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City. Parastas services will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Prayer services begin Monday;March 24;at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church;Charleroi;with Rev.Father Michael Buleza officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
