Obituary

Joseph Scags Muzina, 78, of Arnold City, Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Meadow Crest Nursing Home, Bethel Park. He was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Arnold City, a son of the late Martin and Rosie Kroskie Muzina. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Fayette City. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, a member of Brightwell-Daugherty American Legion Post 484, Fayette City, and PNA Lodge 976, Arnold City. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John E. Muzina, and a sister, Mary Muzina Hezlep. Survivors include brothers, Steve Muzina and wife Rita of Fayette City R.D., Edward Muzina and wife Bobbie of Grindstone, and sisters, Helen Cikovich of the state of California, Sophia Prichard and husband Donald of Pittsburgh, Rosella DuBarr and husband Winfield of Charleroi, a sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Mary) Muzina of Ohio, and a niece, Nancy Lhoest and husband Edmund, with whom he made his home, two great-nephews, Justin and Keith Lhoest and numerous other nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 22, until 10:30 a.m. when a blessing service will take place with Rev. Father Leonard McAlpin officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. American Legion Post 484 will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home Friday.
