Obituary

Joseph R. Pitzie Stonfer, 88, of Newell, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, in Brownsville General Hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1914, in Newell, a son of the late John and Marie Orsega Stonfer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served 37 years with the U.S. Army. He was life member of the Newell VFW Post and Brownsville American Legion. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Louis, John and Michael Stonfer, and four sisters, Virginia Lama, Mary Ferguson, Cecil Nold and Margaret Fedutes. Mr. Stonfer was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. There will be no public viewing and private entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the ELEY/McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., Fayette City.
