Obituary

Joseph Rogowitz of 153 Pennsylvania Blvd.,Monessen,died Sunday,February 22,1981,at 12:15 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital following a declining illness. Mr.Rogowitz was born June 1,1910,in Boston,Mass.,a son of the late Harry and Racheal Stone Rogowitz. A resident of Monessen most of his life,Mr.Rogowitz was retired from the Electrical Department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Rogowitz was a U.S.Army veteran having served in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 28,Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1190 and Mon Valley Association of Retired Steelworkers,all of Monessen. He was preceded in death by two sisters,Jeanette Chodes and Mae Newmark,and two brothers,Harry and Meyer Rogowitz. Survivors include his widow,Mary Rizzutto Rogowitz,a son,Harry M.Rogowitz of Kansas City,Kansas,one brother,Ben Rogowitz of Halandale,Fla.and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Robert A.Billick Funeral Home,Inc.,Grand Blvd.and Marion Ave.,Monessen,from 7 to 9 p.m.Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m.with Rabbi Leonard Winograd officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Robert A.Billick Funeral Home,Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
