Joseph R. Jake Springer;58;formerly of Jeannette;died Wednesday;June 16;2010;in Select Specialty Hospital;Latrobe. He was born April 15;1952;in Charleroi;a son of the late Robert E.and Rita (Zellhoffer) Springer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church;Jeannette;and had previously been active with the Jeannette Baseball Association and PA Midnight Breakers. He worked at the ARC Westmoreland and Washington. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a sister;Doris Jean Springer. Jake is survived by a sister;Mary Lou Grachen and her husband;Matthew of Venetia;two nieces;Angela and Carolyn Grachen;both of Venetia;and numerous aunts;uncles;cousins and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC.;201 N.First St.;Jeannette. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Wise officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
