Joseph P.Martz;58;of 212 Center St.;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;April 11;1973;at 7:40 p.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Monessen on February 5;1915 and was graduated from Monessen High School with the class of 1933. He was employed in the blooming mill of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Martz was a veteran of World War II;having served in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded six battle stars and the bronze star for gallantry in action. He held the rank of Lieutenant. He had been president of Monessen Eagles Aerie 2399 for three terms and belonged to the Raven’s Club of Monessen and American Legion Post No.659 and Sons of Italy Lodge;Belle Vernon. Surviving are his widow;Dorothy Price Huber Martz;his mother;Mrs.Sophie Martz of Monessen;three sisters;Mrs.Paul (Catherine) Cherven of Charleroi;Mrs.Harry (Mary) Daugherty of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Joseph (Virginia) Rusak of Charleroi;three brothers;Stephen Martz and Paul Martz;both of Monessen;and Harry (Moe) Martz of Belle Vernon. Friends are being received at the Toner-Essey Funeral Home;Belle Vernon from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.Thursday and Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.at the funeral home with Dr.S.Arthur Talman;pastor of First Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
