Joseph Olexa, 77, of Perryopolis, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born May 28, 1938 in N. Charleroi, he was the son of the late George P. and Annabelle Burnsworth Olexa. Formerly of Belle Vernon, Mr. Olexa had resided in Perryopolis for the past 30 years, was a member of St. Sebastian RC Church, Belle Vernon and was a retired supervisor from US Steel Irvin Works. Mr. Olexa was a veteran having served in the US Navy and was a member of the Perryopolis Sokol Club and the Perryopolis Sons of Italy. He is survived by his wife Lois Onofrey Olexa to whom he was married 52 years; three sons and daughter in law Joseph P. Olexa & companion Vallerie Lockwood of Smithfield, John A. & Celine Olexa of Beaumont, CA, Brian T. Olexa of Perryopolis, a brother & sister in law Michael T. & Vicki Olexa of Perryopolis; two sisters Rose Lewis & companion Nicholas Relich of Perryopolis, Marlene Kamenicky of Perryopolis; two grandchildren Cassandra Hays and Genevieve Olexa. He is preceded in death by four brothers George Olexa, Robert Olexa, Raymond Olexa, Richard Olexa and two sisters Maryann Matway and Bernadette Joseph. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724- 929-6183. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick Pastor of St. Sebastian R.C. Church officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Joseph Olexa Friday at 3 pm in the funeral home.
