Obituary

Joseph M. Sabolek,83,of 125 Homewood Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,Sept. 11,1996,at 2 p.m. in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 20,1913,in Douglas, Alaska,he was a son of the late George and Cecelia Rusniak Sabolek.  Mr. Sabolek had lived in the Belle Vernon area his entire life. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. Mr. Sabolak retired in 1978 from Republic Steel where he was a mine foreman. Survivors include his wife, Sophia Turek Sabolek to whom he had been married 59 years; three sons, James Joseph Sabolek of Columbus,Ga.,David George Sabolek of Clear Lake, Iowa and Edward Andrew Sabolek of Belle Vernon; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Mary Louise) DeFazio of Connellsville,Mrs. Harry (Lenora) Anthony of Rostraver Township,Mrs. Billy (Cecelia Joan) Newberry of Cape Coral, Fla.,and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Lepore of Northfield,Ohio; 16 grandchildren,including Sara and Katie Sabolek of the state of California and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven and Nicholas Sabolek. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a Prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 will conduct services Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.  The Legion of Mary of St. Sebastian Church will recite the Rosary at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
