Surrounded by his family; beloved husband; father; brother and pap; Joseph Mendicino; 82; of North Belle Vernon; went home to be with the Lord on Thursday; May 8; 2008. Born February 2; 1926 in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Domenico and Josephine Ambrose Mendicino. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon; Mr. Mendicino was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church; Belle Vernon; was a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Air Force and was retired from Whg-Pgh Steel; Allenport Plant as a railroad engineer. He was also a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Catherine Savage Mendicino; 4 sons & 2 daughters in law Michael Mendicino of Speers; Mark & Judith Mendicino of Rostraver Twp.; David Mendicino of Speers; James & Melcena Mendicino of West Newton; 2 brothers & sister in law Michael Mendicino of Belle Vernon; James & Irene Mendicino of Washington Twp.; 5 sisters & 4 brothers in law Ann Ross of Belle Vernon; Rose & Leo Sabatini of Almont; MI; Adeline & Nick Nuccetelli of Jeannette; Norma & Ralph Falbo of White Oak; Teresa & Donald O’Toole of North Belle Vernon; 11grandchildren; Jason & Wife Stephanie; Domenic & Wife Jennifer; Michael & Wife Nicole; Joseph; Daniel; Amy & husband Justin; Laura; Sarah; Rebecca; Jamie; Jared and 7 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son Joseph Mendicino; sister in law Viola Mendicino and brother in law John Ross. He has left a lasting legacy of hard work; humor and love that will continue in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and in the laughter of his great grand kids. Visitation will be held Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Avenue; Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer Service will be held Monday at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas Pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services at 7 pm and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus will conduct services at 7:30 pm all in the funeral home. Parish rosary will be held Monday at 9:30 am in St. Sebastian Church.
