Obituary

Joseph Huscroft of 463 Center Ave., North Charleroi,died Tuesday,March 15,1983 at 8:52 p.m. in the Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 75.  Mr. Huscroft was born March 26,1907,in Stanley, England,a son of the late George and Mary Jane Huscroft.  Protestant by faith,he was a World War II veteran having served with the 509th 3rd Army Engineers.  Mr. Huscroft had worked as a bus driver for West Side Motors,which later became Noble J. Dick Lines. He worked for McGinley Maintenance,and had been a custodian for USW Local 1187 at its union office in Allenport.  Mr. Huscroft was a life member of the Lock Four Fire Department,of which he was a past president and former fire chief.  A past President of the Washington County Firemen's Association,he had been a firemen for 49 years. Mr. Huscroft served as a member of North Charleroi Council for 16 years, eight of those years as president. He was a past county council president of the VFW and was a life member of VFW Post 167,Charleroi. Mr. Huscroft was also a member of the Slavic Citizens Club and the French Club,both of North Charleroi.  He was vice president of the Toast to our Stars Club. Survivors include his widow, Catherine Nichol Huscroft; one daughter, Louise Gray of Charleroi;one brother,John Huscroft of Greensburg and five grandchildren,Lynne, Terri, Donald Joseph, Gary and David Gray. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi,where services will be held on Friday,March 18,at 10 a.m.,with the Rev. Jack Brownlee,pastor of the First Christian Church of Charleroi,officiating.  Burial will be in  Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
